Vietnam issues e-visas to citizens of all countries

The Vietnam e-visa system will allow visitors to apply for their visas online, eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate in person.

Vietnam to Issue E-Visas for All Countries

Starting August 15, 2023, the Vietnamese government will issue electronic visas (e-visas) to citizens of all countries entering Vietnam. Foreigners can enter and exit with e-visas through 13 airports, 16 land border gates, and 13 sea border gates. Additionally, citizens of 13 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus, are entitled to a temporary stay of 45 days from entry date regardless of passport type or entry purpose. This expansion of e-visas is expected to boost Vietnam’s tourism, investment, business, and research sectors.

In recent years, Vietnam has emerged as a popular tourist destination due to its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and delicious cuisine. As part of its efforts to streamline the visa application process and attract more tourists, the Vietnamese government has announced that it will be issuing electronic visas (e-visas) for all countries.

Previously, only citizens of certain countries were eligible to apply for e-visas. However, this new policy will make it easier for travelers from around the world to obtain visas to visit Vietnam. The e-visa system will allow visitors to apply for their visas online, eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate in person.

To apply for an e-visa, travelers will need to provide basic personal information, passport details, and travel dates. They will also need to upload a passport-sized photo and a copy of their passport bio page. After submitting the application and paying the processing fee, applicants can expect to receive their e-visa via email within three business days.

One of the major benefits of the e-visa system is its convenience. Travelers can apply for their visas from anywhere with an internet connection, saving time and money on travel and visa application fees. Additionally, the e-visa system is expected to reduce wait times at Vietnamese airports and border crossings, making it easier for visitors to enter the country.

However, it’s important to note that not all travelers may be eligible for an e-visa. Those who plan to stay in Vietnam for longer than 30 days or who wish to enter the country multiple times will still need to apply for a traditional visa through an embassy or consulate.

Overall, the decision to issue e-visas for all countries is a positive step towards promoting tourism in Vietnam and making the country more accessible to travelers from around the world. By simplifying the visa application process and reducing wait times, the e-visa system is likely to encourage even more visitors to explore all that Vietnam has to offer.
